Using Snowflake Paper Patterns to Create a 3-D Centerpiece and Other Holiday Decorations.

Snowflake Paper PatternsIf you are looking for a way to make Christmas decorations to take into account simple Snowflake Paper Patterns of snow flakes. Think about it! The snowflakes are the pictures from a vacation and we had children because it would be easy. Of course I will now show how to access the card Snowflake Paper Patterns when to leave the boat as a child chic. After I started to snow again will you be surprised what you can do!

Before creating an art of the Snowflake Paper Patterns is necessary to cut some Snowflake Paper Patterns. The snowflakes are always six pages (hex), then you should fold the Snowflake Paper Patterns, the designs are limited symmetrical six expansions. First, fold a sheet of paper, drawing on the right side on the left of the road, that aligned the upper plate and right. Cut the excess paper in the background are not bent. Then put both ends of the voice and mark along the center fold. Introduced to the contrary of the center mark, and measure 3 8.1 “on both sides and make a mark. Draw two lines mark the center of each mark on the side,” he said. Now, more time each line. I know this sounds complicated than a single Snowflake Paper Patterns, but once they see how it is done, it will be easy to bend without any kind of action.

Cut a few pieces of Snowflake Paper Patterns. If you cut along the gap too far from work. But if you want to get fancy, you can take a knife to cut holes in the middle. I like to use something to cut before you start. If all the cuts to explain carefully and drum. Now that you cut snowflake design.

How can a snowflake in Snowflake Paper Patterns. I find it hard to buy their skills and, of course, wear white. Paper Cut Length snowflake model, then the design of the device has been in two places. Cut snowflakes that you have to sit with a cutter. But in more detail in each of the snowflakes a straight cut in the middle of a point at the center. Press the Snowflake Paper Patterns on the cuts in the middle. You may have to make two cuts in the neighborhood, what you have in the center of the snowflake is not open easily in four directions.

There are many ways to decorate with snowflakes in Snowflake Paper Patterns. My favorite is the realization of three different sizes of snowflakes as the center for dinner. Can I hard with white felt as before, then sprinkled sprayed with a thin layer of gold dust to a subtle sheen. Well I have snowflakes on the table with candles in brass holders of gold. It’s simple and yet so elegant.

You can add a touch of your own for this project. pull Considering flakes of gold or gold or Green Pine garland. A few strategically placed balls in red and Snowflake Paper Patterns will increase a little more.

In order to fulfill this task easier to ‘a little, you can find a unit that has experienced a healthy glow. But when you use a spray of glitter or other ways to decorate your snowflakes before the installation of two parts.

So you can not find it, the disc filter. Good. You can use the Snowflake Paper Patterns of snowflakes were cut slightly (or any other structure for that matter). To the fabric stiff, so they have to deal with a resolution of doping or a regular school gum. In short dresses flat brush and a solution. It may take some time to increase or glue dries, to be so patient. You can also iron the fabric with a heavy starch. Experience find these options on a screen in front of junk that works for you.

I hope you have a little fun with this idea and very creative. For example, because you can do something hard tissue (as indicated above do not) use a cloth or canvas Tartan! With a structure to play, beautifully decorated normal mixture can your Snowflake Paper Patterns with permanent residence would help in your home. I have red and green spider to hang them to remain at different times, then sprinkle a few sprigs of tree decorations silver pendant. They look great!

In fact, these snowflake decorations come in Snowflake Paper Patterns distribution and store easily in the years.

Creating Snowflake Paper Patterns is a great way to express your taste. Example. If you have more traditional taste, along with red, green, gold and silver But if you are in the back, then snowflakes create with bright colors like blue, turquoise, neon pink, green and warm. If you are a designer, is the only limit is your imagination. The same applies to donations. When the current design to make a specific person, and to consider their tastes. Beginner’s Acrylic Painting – Paper Painting Surfaces – What You Need to Know

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Have you ever gone in to buy some paper for painting and been overwhelmed by the choice? You would think it would be a simple thing to buy a sheet of paper, wouldn’t you? Well, it can be if you know what the different choices mean and how it can affect your finished painting.

Manufacturers have created a whole range of paper products for the artist. So many choices that unless you know what some of the terms mean it can be very confusing.

When you want your painting to last for a long time always go for acid-free. This is the type of paper used in archives.

The next thing is the surface texture of the paper, whether you want a fine texture or rough. You may be asking “How do I know? I just want something to paint on!”

The texture you choose will depend on your style of painting. If you like to have a lot of detail in your paintings you will need a smooth textured paper – in which case you want one that is ‘Hot Pressed’.

If you use a lot of watercolour (or watercolour style) washes then the paper you should choose will be ‘Not’. That means ‘Not hot pressed’. It has a bit more texture than Hot pressed papers.

If you paint a lot of landscapes and/or like granulation (which happens when the colours separate while they dry) you will probably like using Cold pressed papers. These have the roughest texture.

Papers are sold in weights. This affects the thickness of the paper. Papers that are less than 300-lb or 640gsm (grams per square metre) will need to be stretched before painting. If you don’t stretch the paper it will buckle when wet making painting difficult and the paint will dry in the hollows giving a disappointing result.

Stretching paper needs to be done in advance and the paper allowed to dry before you use it. You will need a clean drawing board, some 1½ inch wide gum strip, and water to soak the paper in (the bath is handy for this).

Soak the paper in the water until it is saturated, this will take less than a minute. Place the paper onto the board and smooth it out from the centre to the edges.

Cut pieces of gum strip to fit the length and the width of the paper, plus a couple of inches. Dampen the gum strip and use it to stick the longer edges of the paper to the board, and then do the shorter edges. Smooth out the paper and the gum strip and leave it to dry naturally and on the horizontal. Do not place it near a heater!

If you just want to paint without needing to prepare the paper, there are pads of ready stretched paper that save you having to do this yourself. These pads have the paper glued around the edges and you paint on the top of the pad. Once you’ve finished the painting and it is completely dry, a knife is inserted at one of the edges and moved around the sides to cut through the glue and free the top layer.

It is a good investment to buy good quality paper. It is much easier to use, and gives a better result.

Next time you need to buy paper think about how you like to paint, and it will be much easier to decide on the type of paper to buy.

The Charm of the Paper Dolls

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The world first saw the doll’s appearance in the city of Paris during the 18th century while Louis XV was reining the land. The appeal and design of the dolls immediately caught the attention of the gay circle of the grand French society. On the other side, British printers and doll makers printed moral stories on the bodies of the dolls themselves. Now it is very clear that the dolls have been used for different purposes during the early times!

Early European paper dolls often depict famous actors and actresses of the early years, and they were primarily used during performances on toy stages. For those who love English literature, some are even using these paper dolls to enact Shakespeare plays and play Shakespearean characters. Paper dolls in America had its own humble beginnings because paper back then was considered a scarce or precious resource. It is because of this that little children, if ever they will have some paper dolls, will really treasure each one of them by putting them into boxes or the in-between pages of their books. But as years passed by, paper became less expensive and this bring forth the mass production of paper dolls made out of cheap cardboard boxes.

Many people in the past earned some money by coloring paper dolls manually. The reason behind this is that the technology of colored printing on paper dolls was not yet fully established. The fashion for paper dolls in the early days was also treated with utmost modesty. All paper dolls back then are fully clothed, and some were even depicted wearing multiple layers of clothes. However, as time passed by, clothing commercialization affected the way dolls will incorporate fashion to themselves. Many expensive materials such as silk and linen were then used as clothing to these paper dolls.

Paper dolls began achieving greater fame when they crept their way out into the pages of world-famous magazines. Among the popular early magazines that featured paper dolls were Ladies World, Woman’s Home Companion, Pictorial Review, Ladies Home Journal, McCalls, Good Housekeeping and Delineator. The paper dolls shown on these magazines were really good that they are really sought by many doll collectors today.

Paper Dolls are also used to depict world famous Hollywood actors and actresses, which further boost their already widely accepted popularity. Among the famous celebrities that were featured as paper dolls were Tyrone Power, Betty Hutton, Greer Garson, Mary Martin, Sonja Henie, Judy Garland, Ava Gardner among others. These types of paper dolls are among the hardest to find and also one of the most sought types of paper dolls in the world today.

Cowboy Crafts For Children

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Some people think that crafts are more for girls than boys, but in actuality all children love crafts. Cowboy crafts for children are a great idea and boys especially love them.

If you have some empty toilet-paper or paper towels rolls handy, you can make a village full of cowboys and cowgirls! Use construction paper to fashion clothes for your person and glue flat against the roll. Then add arms and a head that stick out to make the person more 3-D. Depending on the child’s age and creativity, you can add details such as a cowboy hat, boots, a guitar, a rope, or whatever else you desire. Make several of these to create a fun afternoon of pretend play.

Cowboy vests are a staple item of their wardrobe. To make a cute and simple cowboy vest, use a paper grocery bag. Make a hole in the bottom of the bag for the child’s head. Then cut down the front of the bag and cut arm holes in the sides. Voila, you have a vest. To give it more of a western look, the child can cut up from the bottom of the vest in small strips to make it look like fringe. They can also color or glue a badge or other design onto their vest.

Here is a craft that doubles as a fun game. Make a snake out of rope, yarn, or a heavy paper. Make the snake 6 to 8 feet long in order for the game to work well. To the front of your snake, glue paper cut or colored to look like the snake’s head. To the end, glue or tape a film canister or other small container filled with beans or rice to make a rattlesnake. You can also cut a small hole in the container, poke a pipe cleaner through it, and use that to attach the rattle to the snake. Children can take turns winding the snake on the floor while the others try to jump over it.

A cowboy boot stocking is a fun idea for the Christmas holidays. Cut two boot shapes out of paper, felt, or other material. Glue together along the edges. Older children may wish to sew, with help, to help the craft hold up better. Glue embellishments such a small buckles to the cowboy boot. This can now be hung as a decoration, or used as a stocking!

These are just a few possibilities. With a little imagination or research, you and your little ones could come up with many more great ideas.

Handmade Craft Paper For Printing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Many handmade papers are art works in their own right. paper makers often frame especially unique pieces of hand-made paper to show in exhibitions. Paper can be made of many and varied substances cotton and hemp, flax leaves and many other plant fibers all make a wonderful variety of organic papers. Other parts of the plant like flowers and seeds may be added during the process for decoration of the finished paper.

We use paper for many things in our life the most obvious of which would be for books and newspapers and for writing on, but there are other uses for paper that would be more obscure or certainly less thought about. One of these is ‘insulation’. Insulation is made from shredded newsprint that is treated with a fire retardant and packed into the cavities in the loft space. It is cheap and or even free and easily obtainable, but should not be used when there is a risk of damp as it is susceptible to mold. Paper is used extensively for protective packaging and in many industries. Money is made of paper and toilet paper too.

Artists use paper in many ways, silk screen printing relies on paper for unusual and interesting results and many handmade papers are entirely suitable for the process. Sculptural pieces may also be made of craft paper, free standing, constructed, three dimensional forms. A strong, stiffer paper or card is probably the most suitable type for this purpose. An artist may also use paper to construct a maquette for a piece of sculpture prior to its construction. Architects also use paper or thin card to construct models of a building to show prospective clients.

Paper Mache Recipe For Inexpensive Art – Fun Crafts to Do at Home

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Has money become tight in your household lately? Are you in need of creative and inexpensive solutions for gift giving? If you are the least bit crafty, a good paper mache recipe may be all you need to fill your Christmas gift list. paper mache requires very few ingredients and batches can be quickly and cheaply made as needed. For years this type of craft has been considered a kid craft, but clay artists and crafters have expanded on this notion to achieve great works of art or fun bits of whimsy. If you have ever worked with clay or thought about it and decided it was too expensive, this could be the alternative you have been needing.

This basic paper mache recipe becomes a clay when finished and can be air dried or baked in the oven. Tear several pieces of newspaper approximately one inch square. You will need a large bowl full. In a large pot, boil eight cups of water. Add the torn newspaper to the pot and reduce the heat to medium. Continue to cook for twenty to twenty-five minutes, while stirring with a spoon. When the paper breaks down, remove the pot from the heat. Using a hand held electric mixer, beat the paper until it is smooth. Pour the paper into a colander and let the excess water drain. Do not press the water out. Pour the paper back into the pot and add a cup of flour. Mix the paper mache well and simmer over a low heat. Once the mixture becomes the consistency of clay, remove from the heat. Pour the clay onto newspapers and allow to cool. Once the mixture is cool enough to knead and ply you can begin crafting your masterpieces. This recipe will make just enough clay to easily work with at one time. A double batch is not recommended. If more is needed, wait until you have used up the first batch.

Create your projects by forming the clay into the shapes and sculptures you would like or cover cans, jars, wood and wire to create your structures of art. Make ornaments for Christmas exchange parties or as gifts for co-workers and friends. Cover cardboard boxes and you have wonderfully sturdy jewelry or trinket boxes. Shape grapes, leaves and vines and attach to an inexpensive bottle of wine. This paper mache recipe is very versatile. Any project you can envision making with clay can be accomplished with this recipe. Make plaques, jewelry, bowls or boxes. Press the clay into molds for more detailed finishes. Allow the finished pieces to air dry for a few days. The project’s thickness will determine how long it will take. If you are able to put your item in the oven, bake at a low 200 degrees for faster results. Note: Do not put the suggested bottle of wine in the oven.

This paper mache recipe makes a very durable finished product. When you project is completely dry, sand the surface to smooth. Use ordinary acrylic paints to bring life to your art and finish with a protective clear acrylic spray. The end result can be very impressive and professional looking.

Martin Yale RapidFold P7200 Automatic Desktop Paper Folding Machine Review

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Overview:

The Martin Yale Rapidfold P7200 automatic desktop paper folder is ideal for small to medium sized mailrooms and offices.
The small and compact design of the P7200 means that it doesn’t take a lot of space in your office or mailroom and makes it convenient to place the machine beside your postage meter or desktop printer.
This light volume paper folding machine is great for organizations that occasionally need to fold letter, statements, invoices, flyers, bulletins and correspondence.

Strengths / Features:

The Martin Yale Rapidfold P7200 is designed to take letter sized (8.5″ x 11″) sheets and fold them in half or into a letter-fold for insertion into a standard number ten envelope.
The P7200 is a step up from a small desktop letter folder that needs to be fed by hand, one document at a time. You can add a stack of paper up to 1/2″ thick onto the feed tray of the P7200 and it will conveniently feed each sheet and eject the stacked sheets into the stacking tray.
The Rapidfold P7200 also has a manual bypass slot that allows you to fold up to 3 sheets at a time including stapled sets by hand feeding them one set at a time.

Weaknesses / Limitations:

The Martin Yale Rapidfold P7200 is an excellent personal paper folding machine that is designed for folding folding letters, statements or invoices. However, it is not designed for folding thick paper stocks, glossy papers or coated sheets. It is specifically designed for folding sheets that are between 16lb and 28lb bond.
This machine is only designed to fold letter sized 8.5″ x 11″ sheets. The slightly larger Rapidfold P7400 will handle both letter and legal sized sheets. However, users who need to fold custom sheet sizes should probably consider moving up to either the 1501x or the 1601 paper folding machines.
The Martin Yale P7200 is only designed to perform two folding patterns. It can fold sheets in half and it can fold sheets into a letter. If you need to fold sheets into other patterns such as a z-fold, church-fold, gate-fold or baronial fold you will need a larger more feature rich folding machine.
This machine is what is commonly referred to as a manual setup paper folder. This simply means that you need to manually adjust the paper stops on the fold plates to the correct positions in order to change folding patterns. Adjusting the fold plates can be a little bit tricky especially for inexperienced users. For this reason, the P7200 is probably best suited for organizations that do not need to switch folding patterns on a regular basis. Larger auto setup folding machines can simplify the movement of the folding plates but also cost considerably more than the P7200.

Recommendation:

The Martin Yale P7200 Rapidfold paper folder is great for organizations that need to fold a few hundred documents per week or are looking for a convenient folding solution to fold a few dozen sheets at a time.
For organizations that need to fold more documents than this, need to create a number of different folding patterns or need to use paper sizes other than 8.5″ x 11″ the features and construction of the P7200 are probably not going to meet your needs.
Still, this paper folder is an excellent choice for users who are looking for a small folding machine to place beside their printer, copier or postage meter for on demand production of letters, statements, invoices and mailers.

Digital Scrapbooking – Why You Should Try It

Image : http://www.flickr.com

1. Saves Time

As in all things digital, there are many ways scrapbooking digitally saves you time.

If you’re really lazy or think you can’t even combine two elements without messing something up, you can buy pre-made pages with spaces for your photos and journaling and just drag and drop your pictures onto the page.

Printing your pictures before you put them into your scrapbook pages is no longer necessary. Just download your digital camera pictures to your computer.

No need to spend hours going from one store to another looking for the right color paper to go with your daughter’s Easter dress. Shopping the Web is faster or you can create your own paper. This also eliminates those unwanted 2-year-old tantrums in the paper aisle of the local store.

Everyone I’ve spoken with that’s made the switch to digital says they love how much faster they can complete pages.

2. Saves Space

For some traditional scrappers, the idea was whoever dies with the most supplies wins. Setting aside a permanent corner, room, basement or annex for your supplies was a way to beat your husband at his game of collecting tools.

The only physical space required in digital scrapbooking is for your computer, scanner and printer. The other “space” requirement is the size of your hard drive in your computer. Digitized images do take a lot of megabytes of drive space, but have you seen the price of hard drives lately? You can get a 500 gigabyte drive (that’s 512000 megabytes) for under $100 these days.

Many digital scrappers also like the fact that printed digital scrapbooks are just like any other book. No bulky pages filled with buttons and ribbons.

3. Clean and Tidy

This is the natural result of number 2. With all of your supplies on the computer, there’s no need to physically sort through all of the punches, paper, ribbon or other embellishments you might have lying around. No worries about leaving a project partially done and laying out where junior can spill a soda on it or the dog eats it. No need to get supplies out on the dining room table only to put them away later so you can serve dinner. Just be sure to click save and don’t leave your computer screen where someone can accidentally delete your work.

Another benefit along with this is you’ll find more opportunities to work on your pages without worrying about the time and hassle of setting up before and cleaning up after.

4. Saves Money

Let’s assume you already own a computer. Cost of software such as Adobe Photoshop Elements is $75 – $100.

Digital scrapbook kits usually go for around $5.00 to $7.00 and have lots of paper and embellishments included. The equivalent in physical paper and embellishments costs $20 to $35 and are “consumable” meaning once you use them, they are gone. Digital kits can be used over and over to your heart’s content.

Once you learn how to use your digital scrapbooking software, it’s not hard to create your own supplies if you feel adventurous.

Oh, and saves a lot of gas money too since there’s no need to spend hours going from one store to another looking for the right color paper to go with your daughter’s Easter dress.

5. Waste Proof

This naturally follows number 4 because you can literally re-use any digital scrapbook element as many times as you like. No more buying extra paper to avoid running out of a certain pattern or color. No more keeping piles of leftover paper scraps. Imaging starting each new project with a complete new scrapbook kit. With digital scrapbooking, you can.

6. Mistake Proof

The most precious items in your scrapbooks are your photos. So why take the chance of butchering them with scissors. With digital scrapbooking, there’s no worry of ruining the only photo you have of Great, Great Grandpa. Scan the photo and make as many copies as you need. Resize and crop as many times as you like. Don’t like it? Back up a few steps with the Undo function or start over.

Ever place a sticker on a page and didn’t quite like it? Oh well, it’s stuck on the page now. Digital scrapbooking allows you to experiment with a multitude of possible combinations until you get it just the way you want.

7. Photo Manipulation

Restore vintage photos to make them look just like new. Take current photos and purposely make them looked aged. Remove the red eye in that otherwise perfect candid shot. Get rid of ugly facial blemishes (the proverbial pimple in the Prom portrait) or too much sweat making the face glisten. Crop, enlarge, tint, age — there are so many options to make your photos even more attractive, you’ll be absolutely amazed. Photos you thought were hopeless are given new life.

8. Easier to Share

Ever create a scrapbook page only to duplicate it once again for your mother? Not anymore. In addition to being another time saver, digital scrapbooks can be shared so easily in so many ways. Print multiple copies of your completed books to share with family. Upload pages to your family blog. Email pages to relatives wherever they live. Use the same digital template for multiple photos. Get the idea?

9. Archival Quality

Remember when everything had to be acid free? First it was the paper, then the sheet protectors, the inks, the glue. Then came all the embellishments. Were they acid free too? Wait a sec…with digital scrapbooking, everything is acid free because there is no ink or glue to mix with your photos. Everything is preserved digitally either on your computer hard drive or on CDs or DVDs. Print as many copies as you need as often as you like. Not only is this archival, but keeping extra copies of your photos digitally either in a fire-proof safe or in a second physical location is the best way to ensure against your keepsakes being destroyed by a disaster such as a fire.

10. Unlimited Styles

With traditional scrapbooking, you’re limited by whatever paper you can find in your local store or on the Web. Even then, you might find a pattern you like but sometimes the color isn’t quite right.

Not a problem with digital scrapbooking. It’s so easy to adjust the paper color from one hue to another so you can always match your daughter’s Easter dress perfectly.

11. Trendiest

Scrapbook paper manufacturers use designers to create a new line of products. Then they decide which designs go into production. From there, retail buyers decide how much of the line to carry in their stores. By the time you get around to shopping, you’re lucky if the product is in stock and in the right color.

Digital paper is not limited by any of the above. There’s a multitude of online purveyors of digital scrapbook kits and there’s no waiting for the product to hit the store. New designers don’t have to have a big company behind them to sell their own designs. You get the trendiest designs and they are guaranteed to always be in stock.

12. Makes Anyone an Expert

So what if your handwriting looks as bad as a doctors prescription. That’s what computer fonts are for…to make you look like a professional calligrapher. But the best part is, there’s no commitment, so if you misspelled a word in your journaling, you’re free to go correct it without damaging your layout. Cropped photos always have perfect edges and text is always straight. Using a computer to scrapbook brings out the real artist inside you when you don’t have to worry about making mistakes.

13. Flexibility

Try this exercise: Take a piece of pattern paper and attach a photo. Now add some ribbon and some journaling. Now go back to the pattern paper and change it to another style to see if it will look better. Can’t do it? You can when doing it digitally. That’s what layers are for. It’s like making a big Dagwood sandwich and deciding you want relish instead of pickles after the sandwich is already built. With layers, you can change any element on the page at any time.

14. Professionalism

Sure we like homemade stuff, but if we can make it look professional, it makes us all the more proud we created it. Submit your digital scrapbooks to printers like Viovio to have them professionally printed and bound. Then show everyone how talented you really are.

15. Versatility

Take any design you like and turn it into just about anything you want. Change the opacity to make it look like vellum. Tweak the colors to add a little more blue or red. Increase the color saturation or decrease it. Change it into anything you desire.

16. Endless Supplies

Never, ever run out of the letter “S” when using a sticker set again. And always have it in the right size, color and style. With digital scrapbooking, you will never run out of supplies again.

And who know, maybe you’ll start designing your own paper lines.

17. Easy on the Furniture

No more hammering eyelets! No more dents in your oak dining table. Enough said.
